On 22nd June, the Nursing Now Challenge and the World Innovation Summit for Health, along with academic partners The BMJ, will join forces to celebrate the launch of the following publications – Nursing and Climate Change: Meeting the moment; Nursing 2.0: Where next for nursing?; and Nurses for Health Equity.
As a result of generous funding received from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, the Florence Nightingale Foundation provided a leadership programme for 42 Learning Disability Nurses working across the UK. The programme aimed to enhance the authority and influence of Learning Disability Nurses to enable them to assert their specialist knowledge and advocate for the best possible care for people with a learning disability.
A three-year grant from the Burdett Trust for Nursing has created a first-of-its-kind Nursing Innovation Fellow position at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which has been awarded to Clinical Nurse Specialist, Debbie Van Der Velden.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has spoken to Harriet Nayiga, founder and director of Midwife-led Community Transformation, a charity bridging the gap between midwives and communities in Uganda by focusing on adolescent sexual health. The charity has participated in Nursing Now’s Nightingale Challenge, funded by Burdett.
A long standing partnership between the Burdett Trust for Nursing and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust awards Churchill Fellowships to people working in the medical professions.
As one of Jaya Mental Health’s first donors, Burdett Trust has supported the training and professional development of mental health nurses in South Asia.
Nurses now have easy free access to the newly- launched Nursing Minds toolkit, funded by Burdett. The toolkit is a compilation of links to sources of help, advice and support to help nurses boost their mental health and wellbeing.
June 2021 will mark a new beginning for the Nightingale Challenge as it becomes the “Nursing Now Challenge”, under the continued leadership of Professor Lisa Bayliss-Pratt at Coventry University, in partnership with Health Education England, THET and funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing.
